Dr. Ranjan Kalita is an academician, researcher, writer and social activist. Born in Jamugurihat (Sonitpur district of Assam) in 1968 to parents Sri Binod Ch. Kalita, a retired teacher and Xaranacharjya of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev Namdharma samaj, Asom and Late Nandeswari Kalita.

Dr. Ranjan Kalita is an academician, researcher, writer and social activist. Born in Jamugurihat (Sonitpur district of Assam) in 1968 to parents Sri Binod Ch. Kalita, a retired teacher and Xaranacharjya of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev Namdharma samaj, Asom and Late Nandeswari Kalita.


Education: He did his schooling from North Jamuguri HS School and graduated from Biswanath College, Chariali with Honours in Assamese and then did Masters from Gauhati University passing out in 1991. In 2012, under the guidance of Dr. Sunil Kumar Dutta (Tezpur University) & Dr. Umesh Deka (Gauhati University), he awarded PhD degree for his thesis ‘A Comparative Study on Assamese and Nepali Proverbs’ from Gauhati University. Dr. Kalita also did Master in Mass Communication from Krishna Kanta Hondiqui State Open University in 2014.

Professional Life

He started his professional career in 1993 as Lecturer in the department of Assamese at Tezpur College. In the Year 2018, he joined as Principal, Rangapara College and still working. He is also a recognized Research Supervisor of Gauhati University. He has been guiding six numbers of PhD research scholars under Gauhati University
